I Hope You Dance

Attended my little niece's graduation ceremony and performances with my family today. It's amazing that kids could be "trained" to put up a 3 to 5 minutes dance as young as 3 years old. One of the programs even saw a play being performed by the 6 years old students.

One has to agree that little kids with their zest and keenness to learn are easy to be molded for the occasion. Take for instance, my niece. Being a hyperactive kid, she has proven to be the star in her Malay dance performance with her attentiveness and impeccable dance steps.

Unfortunately, the hard work by the teachers and training by students were flawed by a moment similar to the movie, "Raise the Red Lantern". For some reason, the stage curtain was jammed after one of the performances. Simply, the curtain only raised up to a certain level, impeding the full view of the stage.

Naturally, the young performers in the imminent performance giggled at side of the stage, clueless about the unexpected adjourn. Slowly, one by one sticked out their little head and tried to make eye-contact with their families in the corner of stage inconspicuously. My little niece due for her debut performance was also caught in the act - camera- by her dad:)

Guess not all mind the break time, as it meant restroom time for some. For others, it was catching up time with the parents/guardians of their kids' classmates.

Thirty minutes later, the graduation concert resumed smoothly after the venue staff ironed out the curtain issue. And both teachers and parents gave a big sign of relief as they were able continue to enjoy the dances and play of their little darling.

Personally, I had also been impressed by the young performers, especially the patience and dedication by the teachers.
