Tonight, I Love You

Had a good chat with a lady taxi driver. Very chirpy and happy. Found her attitude uplifting and refreshing, among many grouchy taxi drivers. And especially you are talking about one who takes the night shift. I asked her, "Is that worth it?. After all, ladies are always concerned over a lack of beauty sleep. She simply shrugged it off saying so long as one gets enough rest, one can still enjoy good health.

Probing further, I asked her if she has been driving taxi all this while. One year ago, she was a merchandiser who was spending more time at work, albeit it being a day's job. Now, her new profession which requires 9-hour slog in the evening, has allowed her to spend more time with her family. Sometimes, she can even drop by her mum's place for a quick meal/chat if she is in the proximity. More importantly, she enjoys driving and sees the switch a natural progression.

Kudos to her courage to make the mid-life career change! Furthermore, it takes more than passion to survive in a male-predominated business. Interestingly, she has gained lots of attention from the male co-workers who are more than willing to share the tips in the profession.

Crossing over to Formula One, rumors are heating up that Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen will walk away from the grand prix circus at the end of the 2009 season. According to him, he may take up full time rallying being his other passion, like so many of his compatriots before him. Another potential case in point.

Clearly there is a takeaway in their stories. If you are reading this blog, you probably smell it too.
